Ebay sellers blaming the post

Hermes are the worst they employ any crook Iv had boxes turn up empty but eBay can be a nightmare as if they have a photo of it wrapped up you can’t do much against it

Had a email from them saying they’re putting up prices, diesel has gone down a £1 a gallon!!
Had to do job in one of their depots once, I can only say animals and crooks shocking

We expected a long wait from the local fencing supplier. I was not too happy to get the phonecall half 8 the next morning "we are here for you to unload" to spend the next few hours shifting 300kg of concrete!

Hermes are ok here, nothing lost. Not the quickest and the driver never waits. It is always delivered, always on the step when I open the door he is disappearing in the distance. He would make a good marathon runner! (I assume its a long shift!)

Spent a few days in TNT sort centre, they are the last courier company on my list, lower than yodel even!

Its really *MOD EDIT* who list stuff on ebay as "UK stock" "Delivery within 7 days", Then drop ship the item from China.
Suddenly places like Banggood aren't offering the free express delivery option and parcels are taking 25 to 35 days to arrive. During that time buyers are opening paypal disputes due to no tracking updates for 2 weeks, Then just after ebay refunds the money the tracking wakes up and 3 days later the parcel arrives.

I've got 3 missing parcels out there somewhere at the minute. All are in excess of 3 days overdue, And the tracking pretty much says "Tracking number provided" as the only update. I think sellers are just using the perseved postal issues to cover themselfed for deciding to buy the shipping online then only make 1 or 2 runs to the post office per week rather than the 5 or 6 they used to do.

obviously me being lucky, had two ebay RM postal deliveries this week delivered ahead of estimated date, 2 RM parcels last week delivered ok
I sent an RM package last week that took a couple of days to be signed for but think that was problem at the destination end

Sent about 100 parcels all over the country via Hermes in the last year and only one failed delivery and that got returned ok, a couple of others were delayed but got there not too long after the expected date

I know the problems that others are reporting are totally justified just saying that most services tend to deliver on time without damage but people naturally make more noise about problems than success stories

I think some people are taking the *advantage* too. Invoices seem to be another thing the virus has slowed. Got 10% paid from the ones I sent for work done before the lockdown. Normally it would be 100%.

I used to work in RM, some good mates still do, as does my uncle. There are no delays, everyone I know including our postie says its running as normal... They do have some complaints about the managment.. but another thread...

Understanding and paitence come with communicaion, lies and blaming post will get none. If it ever arrives he will have to pay for collection, and wont be getting good feedback.

Even if there were delays, sending by 2nd class on Monday is no good. He could have sent me a message and I would have paid the extra. I needed item by the date.

I ended up doing the jobs by hand after waiting a week, so I am not happy!

I can assure you there are and it's not.
People are shopping online like the world is ending, parcel volume is up past Christmas levels.
In recent weeks some rounds weren't going out for anything up to 4 days. When they did there was such a huge amount that some was getting taken back undelivered, that then wasn't going out until that round went out again.
It's getting better but still not what it was like pre-Covid.

Winchboy paid extra for Parcel force next day, it didn't come next day and you can n longer claim bit of a fiddle really.
Had tow parcels dispatched Parcel two days Royal mail 17 days!
Local Postie tells me its manic loads of stuff but lack of bodies?

I'd say its largely down to luck when deliveries will arrive at the moment, as someone else mentioned Amazon prime thats almost always next day are quoting upto 10 days for certain things, I ordered 4 different things on wednesday, all said delivery next week but 3 have turned up already.

My dad posted me 1st class, something only large letter size. Took nearly 2 weeks to arrive so i would disagree that there are no delays. I have sent plenty of items out over the last few weeks and most have arrived within usual day or 2 but some have taken nearly 2 weeks to arrive. So i think it depends on the area the items are being sent from or too, pot luck on the times they are arriving.

Cant help with sellers shipping items late but can confirm some items are taking longet to arrive than usual.

Lack of bodies plus lack of vans plus not wanting too many people in the delivery office at any one time.
Normally posties mostly go out in pairs in a van taking two rounds between them, now they go out alone taking just one round.
While they're out on delivery people come in and prep rounds that didn't go out so they're ready to go out the next day. When the posties that have been out return, the ones that have been prepping are sent out in the vans to deliver parcels.

I must stand up for Hermes - I'm not saying that they are perfect (but nor am I!) but over many years I've had very good service from Hermes both as a sender AND as a recipient.

I have been fairly lucky with Amazon, other than one item I have just checked to find it is being sent from Hong Kong. My missus birthday present turned up on her birthday after telling her it would be another 4 days! Two circular saw blades turned up next day.

After a post elsewhere in this parish I ordered a set of left-handed vernier callipers from DRO on 31st March, despatched next day though still not arrived, but stuff ordered from Amazon earlier this week and despatched from their warehouse in Scotland arrived yesterday. I think it’s pot luck at the moment; DRO have asked me to give it another week as the post is struggling at the moment.

I've had three items take 7 days to get delivered this month, despite being sent 1st class.

I've also had a couple orders take two weeks to get delivered to me, despite being sent 48hr.


The issue with most couriers, is once they know they're going to fail delivery time on an item, it then loses priority, and they'll give priority to an item that they can still make delivery time on. For targets, it's better to miss a delivery on a single item by 7 days, than 7 items by a day.

I'm almost on speaking terms with our Amazon and Hermes guys, they seem to be local and regular and hide stuff for me so it doesn't get lifted by the "Porch Pirates"
Been waiting 2 weeks for an RM delivery, was going to have a moan at the seller, having read this thread think I will hold on a while...

I brought a new bed in February, was told the delivery date would be March 20th , still haven’t got the bed or even a phone call . Didn’t expect the bed under the circumstances but a phone call would have been nice. Well done Bensons for beds customer services!

Ordered items early last week. Not recieved any of them. Tooltime, MrBandsaw, and another.
Sent message asking for tracking numbers. Tooltime were honest, they havent sent it, and no stock, but still have the listings up, taking sales. Taking their time on the refund, waiting for ebay to step in. I wont be using them again.

MrBandsaw, I will never use again. Telling me sent Monday, it should have been sent last Thursday, I dont believe it was sent. It is still not here. His excuse, the post service is slow

Post is not slow, other items are arriving as normal. Posties are doing an amazing job keeping the country running, find it very irritating when people blame others.

Ordered 2 belts from bearingboys on Wednesday night - arrived this morning by Royal Mail 2nd class.
Ordered an air coupling for £2.19 delivered off random ebay seller on Monday, arrived Wednesday by Royal Mail 2nd class.

So I agree with you - nowt wrong with the postal service from where I'm sitting...

Other than RMSD Guaranteed next day, RM Tracked is high priority, non-tracked parcels next, mail and small packets is low priority.

Local postie was queuing outside the butchers last week. He said there are 200,000 parcels backed up in Medway. Said it was worse than any Christmas.
My oppo at work, his wife is a postie around Carhsalton. She's been doing double shifts for weeks and they are still dangling the carrot to do more.
