Ebay seller refused combined postage

TBH I would just give this endeavour up. They never said they reduced cost on combined postage, it's pretty clear when someone does they put it in the terms.

IMO it's even a bit cheeky trying to chase after this money. For what ever reason the seller puts postage per item. Maybe it's the only way they can make decent money from selling this particular item?

As said if you asked before the auction end and they agreed it's a different matter. Too late when you have bought it.

On the rare occasions I've had to contact eBay customer service and Paypal customer service they have been helpful and successful in getting a result that satisfied me. I've been mainly buying but occasionally selling since March 2001 and have done well over 2500 transactions. In all that time I may have had ten, but probably less, 'problems' which is a minuscule percentage. I've also found that the majority of ebayers I've had dealings with have been helpful and pleasant.

I genuinely believe that people respond usually in the manner that you approach them. Treat people as you would wish to be treated and generally life gets a lot easier !!!!

I dont agree. If the items had sold to 3 different people thats fine but nearly 30 quid on postage is disgusting. The seller has actually left them selves open to 1 star by admitting they loaded the postage. But one thing is ebay have decided to get 10% on the postage them selves so by passing fees is not something he/she is doing to be fair.

That said the seller is open to abuse by trying to use one tracking number for 3 items paid for separately. Not something I would do myself but I know many ebayers have done this when disgruntled. Opened a case for item not received. Its a can of worms.

To be fair it has been sorted. As has been said in reality the OP was aware of the price before he bid. Sellers can no longer use high postage cost to by pass fees and if they try it to boost visibility they get clobbered by low star ratings which soon delete accounts not performing. Even negative feedback will still show soon.

Its all about "defects" strangely enough one real bad transaction with 3 defects, will actually count as one BUT my pet hate of sellers paying/bribing/forcing customers to revise Feedback is being addressed.

But what I would say is EBAY is a "ripoff" now they have a monopoly.

I lost toprated seller this month by 4 transactions as I was using a true 12 month period to calculate my sales......wrong. typical making so hard to work out.

i think some of the ebay members are completely out of order in the way they go about over charging in postage or wont combined postage.

i had one a while back. he was selling three motors.... one was 230v and the other two where 24v.
he had them all starting at £1 each and £10 postage on the 230v one. and £5 for the smaller 24v and £10 for the other 24v.

i sent him a msg asking..
hi there,
i assume you will combine postage if winning more then one motor ?

Hi, depends on what they sell for, not going to want post 2-3 motors going for just a pound each for a fiver !
so he was clearly hicking the postage to earn more on the motors, so he could list them for a £1 each and not pay listing fees.

well if you wanting more for the motors then why dont they just start the listing higher.

anyway after winning the 230v motor for £1 and paying £10 postage
i got told he sent the motor to the guy who bought the 24v ones.
and had to pay the other guy £5 to post the 230v one on to me.
after getting it.. i found the wiring for the motor wasnt brown, blue and yellow/green
or even red, black etc.
they where different colour wires.
nothing in the listing about what wire is for what. just 230v ac motor with gearbox 23rpm.
even the seller didnt know what wire was for what.
and couldnt prove it was working.
he did offer me 0.65p back IF i posted the motor back to him. if i was unhappy.
of course ild have to pay the postage cost.
hence i opened a case for it and got back my £11 from ebay/paypal.

he later advised me it needed a controller board to allow it to work. lol

would of been nice if he had put this in the listing to start with.



yet you get some sellers that are great.

a seller selling 5 metal trend guide bushes and a packed of metal shelf pins. and a pack of wood dowels.

each item was £3.10 postage, i messaged the seller asking if he would combine postage and he said yes happy too.

in the end i won all five guide bushes and the pins and dowels.
he then sent me a invoice and only charged me £3.10 postage for the lot.
what a bargin !!

In a way you are agreeing as you say give them 1 star. But opening up a case etc when you probably won't get the money back and you know you should have asked before not after is just most likely a big waste of time where you will spend more time stressing about it than it's worth. Sure it's fine if you forgot to ask to pop a nice message over and ask will they combine - a polite as possible. But if the answer is no just live with it and give them the 1 star.
