earth clamp

Hi, not sure if this is in right place. I was looking at replacing my earth clamp with possible one of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TGC-High-...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item3f30ce9fef

All so would it make sense to hard wire welding table with a second clamp available for workpiece. If so any ideas for joining the earth wire together, Would I just cut outer shroud and join some how ?

You might like to google or eBay Dinse plug or Dinse socket or Dinse panel socket. Also some spell it Dinze.

I use a short earth (return) lead for bench work with a Dinse plug into the welder and a lug bolted to the bench.
If I need the earth on the job then I disconnect and use a longer lead with a spring clamp.

Beware! They come in different sizes. My MIG uses the small size while my TIG uses a larger one.
I keep saying I'll buy a large panel socket for the MIG so my leads are interchangeable.

Same here.

My Mig welder, Plasma cutter, and Tig welder now all have the larger Dinse Sockets fitted to them, and my bench has a return lead permanently bolted to it with a dinse plug on the far end to plug into any of my machines. I do have a "flying bridge" return lead made up of about 1 metre of earth cable with a permanent magnet attached at each end so that when required I can ensure a proper return between the item and the bench. I also have two return leads for on-site work or work away from the bench. One has the dinse plug at one end and a spring clamp at the other, and my second portable return lead has a 300amp Magswitch earth clamp.................... on thin material this magswitch requires another piece of steel put under the work to give sufficient depth for the magnetic field to hold the clamp in place

Check out the Nevada clamp, it's s really good quality 400 amp crocodile style clamp.

I came across 2 of these today for a fiver...going to put them on my mig and the other on the inverter stick i have. They seem very good quality and Murex too

I owe you a thank you Robin.
This was the kick up the bum I needed and now I have a large Dinse socket on my MIG. (Fitted today)
I can now use the same leads on both welders.

These are good and at a fiver for two you've done well. I changed my return leads from the spring clamp type to these. Much better design.

Where did you find those at 2 for a fiver? Cheapest I have seen them is £6/7 each for Murex.

I run those heavy duty murex screw clamps on my welders. The spring type are cack.
