Earth/bonding terminals.

Wasn't sure which section to ask for thoughts on this. It's automotive, but relevant to machinery and I guess mains too.

I need to put some earth points on the frame for connecting the various bits to (lights, sensors etc). So I'm going to put some threaded tub nuts in by drilling the frame tube. My question is for both corrosion resistance and conductivity would I be better brazing in brass tubes? Or am I over thinking it and should just weld in some mild steel tubes?

Cost isn't a factor as there will only be half a dozen or so.

Are the tub nuts crimped? If so I wouldn't use them as you'll get a very poor connection. Better welding or braising a threaded insert in.

No, treaded weld or braze in.

You need something like an upside down flange nut or a threaded plate welded on - something with some meat around it for any ring crimps to get a good connection to.
Ideally it will sit a little proud of the surrounding surface so when everything else is covered in paint or muck it will be easy to wipe/sand down and keep it clean. Bit of vaseline on it to stop corrosion.

Yep, all sorted. It was just the brass brazed vs mild steel welded question that I'm undecided on.
