Is it possible to get employment as a welder having done an eal level 1 or should I do a level 2 or something else I really want to make a career in welding thanks for any help

Not worth the paper it's written on IMO. I've had a couple of lads come in waving their NVQ papers, with next to no experience and no BS9606 quals (Or whichever BS is relevant to the sort of work you are looking to do).

Its a good start, but unless you have real world welding experience you won't walk into a job without an employer having to invest time and money getting you to a suitable standard and putting you through your codings. Some will invest time and money; a lot won't.

I did eal level 2 Mma welding because the company I was a sparky for wants us to be able to do down and dirty repairs when fitters weren't available...anyone actually going into the welding team had to have codings and they aren't anywhere near as easy as an eal course that teaches you a few techniques

the problem u face is people don't want to pay u minimum wage and train u at the same time. it slows the job down and times money . catch 22

Keep trying, don't give up. Someone will take you on. You might not get started straight away as a welder, but you will get a foot in the door.
