ok following on from my thread about my vw toureg problem with ESP sensor costing ££££ to fix I decided to list it on e bay as spares or repair ,
Gave an honest description outlining the problem , giving the diagnostic results .
I estimate the value with no faults about 3.5-4K
Anyway I put the start price at £400 , looked at the listing 24 hrs later and it's £6000 !! I e mailed the high bidder telling him it's not worth that much and what's he playing at ! He mails back saying he will go to £9500
Question is wtf do I do now ? Cancell the listing and sell to one of the 10 or so people who have phoned or mailed wanting it ? Or what are my other options ( the high bidder has only been a member a month and has 50% positive feedback )
I really don't think this clown is gonna pay that much and will mess me about !
I've had a quick look at calcelling the listing and I think I will have to pay A fee unless cancelled with in 24 hours (that time has passed now anyway )

He could be a scammer who when he wins asks for his shipping agent to close the deal because he has been called abroad, he sends you 11k and asks you to send the overpayment to the agent for shipping, of course you trust him because you have his money...until you have sent the payment and his bank draft was found to be illegal you are then 1.5k out of pocket.

He could have offers on thousands of items using hacked accounts.

Tell him if he wants it, as he has less than 10 +ve feedback, he can buy it for £8000 cash and you'll end the auction now.

If he's genuine, and is willing to go to £9500, he'll come and be quids in. You'll cover the 10% fee on the current bid and some.

Or let the auction run and offer to the previous bidder when he starts on the rich overseas uncle nonsense. Cash on collection only.

Good advice: Stay friendly too, you just never know and there is the smallest chance he could be genuine, I doubt it but if he is daft with money then you have won.

Had the same sort of thing going on when i listed my Land Cruiser, Turned out to be a bunch of idiots, All in the same room bidding on their phones. Just kept increasing the bids to a crazy amount. Got ebay to investigate and they wiped all their bids off and banned them.

as others have said, tell him cash on collection only.
and if he doesn't reply or starts messing about.
just remove his bids and add him to your block list.

That never works. I have never had a second bidder offer accepted. Its because they think you have pulled a scam and bid it up. Cant say I blame them but it has happened to me on a few occasions where the winning bidder decides they dont want it......no point in forcing them to pay for it as you will only get it back. car is a different option obviously

He's acting the fool, you can buy a runner with no problems for £6500 why would he go to £9500 for one needing work ? I'm with the others, cancel his bids and block him and check out whoever has bid against him up to £6000 as well.
P.S If you spelt it Toureg you are probably going to miss a lot of buyers.

#8 I put a 57 plate Octavia on gumtree at xmas, it was my old taxi 360,000 miles. My daughter had it after me and ran it for about 6 months, then she put petrol in it. I advertised it cheap and told the truth, I got every tom dick and harry offering me £300 to £400 for it, none of them even came to look at it.
An Eastern European rang and said he would send someone straight away with a recovery truck and fetch it. We agreed on a price and he said someone is on the way from Peterborough, I live in Nottingham, so I took this with a pinch of salt.
30 minutes later I get a call from the recovery driver asking if the postcode is correct. He arrived paid for the car and was on his way 10 minutes after arriving.
The bloke just sends cars back to Romania.
I actually got more than I wanted for the car.

I try not to sell anything on gumtree, as there is too many idiots.

My london base son had is Toyota bumped while it was parked, Quite a bit of damage to the N/S front corner, Chassis leg and suspension bumped way back. But the rest of the car looked great, Advertised it on ebay as spares or repair. He got a really good price bid for it, Guy that turned up to collect it on a trailer
was from somewhere in east europe, Said he came to the UK every few weeks to buy damaged cars, Also said back home they could "put anything back together"

Report him first and foremost and cancel his bids. Let it run and if they are all messing about try relisting is my advice. There are some sad people nowadays. Cowards who hide behind a keyboard getting kicks out of ******* up genuine peoples lives!
