This bunch are a complete waste of space. Rang them today to get advice for a family member who turns 70 in the summer and wanted to find out if they could retain there C1 (non commercial) entitlement. They pass the car requirement for sight, but would not pass the HGV/PCV requirement. DVLA web site states that you may be able to retain C1 even with monocular sight and I needed to find out what the criteria were.
After 40 mins. of canned music, I get a person with no medical training, saying check with your GP and/or optician for advice - they've already said ask DVLA, they are both happy for family member to drive (a car)- so a complete waste of time.
Family member just wants to be able (if necessary) to be able to drive a motorhome over 3500kg.
So it looks like a D4 medical and then wait and see what DVLA decides.
Motorhome is too near the 3500kg limit and with the additions in March will need up plating - 3700kg is only a paper exercise & 3850 with rear air suspension, which is being done in March - so could be driven by family member till August.
The family member would only drive (home) if main driver is unable due to injury, would not drive it otherwise as it normally tows a 2t box trailer.
