Another vote for just any old vacuum with a cyclone inline.
You can pull out a cyclone unit from an old dyson that works well. The older dc01s have a single cyclone that while isn't so effective as the newer, fancier, ones doesn't sap flowrate so much and you still have the original vacuum cleaner filters to protect the motor. Seems to work ok on my blast cabinet anyway.
How were you going to contain the fallout from a grinder? Seems like a big challenge compared to a sander but I'd like to see it done.

Would the volume/capacity be okay if using as a dust extractor when removing paint and filler with a paint stripping disc on a grinder? It makes loads of dust. What's best one with a bag or baggless?
