Battened down the hatches here, just outside Cirencester and 700 feet up. The red zone ends about 15 miles from us apparently so it should be interesting!

Well, I'm reading this from a hotel room in London after all the flights from London to Edinburgh were cancelled tonight.
I went out to dinner with a colleague and I can report that the weather was: 10C, clear skies, dry, no wind. Total and utter pain in the hump.
£221 for a hotel room with 30 minutes notice, no spare pants, and the earliest flight I can get from LCY Friday is 16:40
I hope everyone is ok, but a total non-event in London tonight.

An hour ago it was as still as flat beer.
Now it's started to blow a hoolie, but I'm not bothered, it's been far worse here in the past couple of years.
My only real concern is loss of power for more than a few hours. If it's bad enough then plenty of trees might be blown onto power lines up and down the country. The ESB (power co) are pretty good at getting things up and running quickly, but when it's widespread it can take some time.

Well madam has been panicking! She does love something to fret about and has been up all night waiting for the apocalypse because TV news says so. "But the Environmental Agency are involved". The cat flap is blocked off too, but I can't get a coherent reason for that, although it is and has been calm and dry. We had a nice lady from the EA drop off an A4 "warning letter" last night, together with a few empty bags, so of course that has fueled her fire and she is astonished that I am not cowering in bed. I did move my dual band Yagi into the predicted wind and will go in late, just to keep her happy that I am being safe.

I'm just listening to Gloucester approach and surprised to hear activity, although they seem to be talking to vehicles rather than aircraft? Crash Gate 1 is the callsign I am hearing.
