Plunger type. Hoping to measure the end float on a rear hub bearing. Needs to be able to measure 0.0005in. Thank you.Lever type or plunger? DTI usually means lever but these days people use the term for either.
What range are you measuring?
That has been most helpful. Great advice.Every gauge you buy these days will be adequate for the job. The stands vary in quality. The ones with adjustment midway along one of the arms are not very good.

Magnetic Stand / Base For Dial Test Indicator / DTI Gauge By BERGEN AT426 | eBay UK
Can hold a DTI by its stem or by a lug. Suits virtually all DTI gauges. The heavy base is magnetic and holds the stand firmly (60kg pull). 175mm total height.www.ebay.co.uk
You will get a cheaper overall price if you can forego the imperial requirement because most gauge/stand package deals are for metric items.

Thank you. I didn’t realise there was a difference. It’s a dial gauge. Measures absolute. All a DTI does is compare, not measure - although they may not be far off as a comparison.
