M DRO are very good I have done a couple of vids installing themI desperately want a DRO for the lathe and the mill.
Is it worth saving for the Newall type or are the (Chinese?) M-DRO offerings?
I would say the Newall is better, certainly in regards to the scales, much easier to fit and there shouldn't be any issues at all with contamination so not the same care required for shielding as glass scales require.
I doubt you would notice the difference once fitted.I desperately want a DRO for the lathe and the mill.

I would only buy from ban good if I could afford to throw it away if it was rubbish. Too many sub-standard items sold on there.I'm only a hobbyist but I was really impressed with the build quality of the generic banggood kit.
That is one issue I had with the Chinese DRO, could never work out how to get the offsets working. I thought it likely after 15 years they would have that sorted but possibly not. The Newall is very nice for tool offsets and work offsets and although I haven't really had a chance to mess with it this week I got a short time yesterday and easily managed to get 10 tools set up , also got work offsets figured out and then I messed with quick editing of tool offsets and all worked flawlessly.....
Dammed if I can suss programing the tool offsets though. So it doesn't totally mitigate fools

Thanks for that @Agroshield .will do.Have a search around some of the US sites selling DROs. They are all very similar under the skin. Look directly on the Sino site as well. The quality of manual supplied by each reseller varies considerably. If you are lucky and Grizzly in US sell one, their manuals are particularly good.
