It works! (To some extent). Here's the contraption with a box full of aggregate for weight:
And the business end - 12 steel bars roughly 10mm diameter reinforced by steel plate for loosening up the surface, and then a blade I can bolt in front for scraping.
I found the rake needed a lot of weight on top. It was fine on the stuff at the sides, but not so useful on the compacted stuff in the middle. With the blade fitted it needed much less weight on top. Traction was an issue at times. Here's progress on the drive:
It seems to move gravel towards the middle (a good thing as I'd like camber on there) but leaves it in a pile. Might try going over it without any weight.
Also it needs wheels - would be very useful for manoeuvring and final levelling. Haven't figured out a good way to raise and lower wheels yet.
