wifeys just done the driver awareness course

caught speeding doing 5mph over the limit :vsad:

I was winding her up as she drives like a snail and I said hope she learns her lesson :laughing:

she kicked off and said that's rich you doing 70mph and your speedo underleads by 30 mph :whistle:

the difference is I do it when no ones around and have eyes up me bum

My Mrs did one , They told her to drive in 3rd instead of 4th to go slower :doh:

Lol but I get there point. I have to be careful in wife's car. 3rd gear in a 30 zone and it creeps over by itself. 2nd is a safer option sometimes.

I remember going on a speed awareness course when I was 17 & just passed my test. My Mother was not best happy, But the funniest bit is she went on a course not long after me & then got caught again to get 3 points on her license. How ironic! :laughing:

She never speaks about it these days... I wonder why! :sheep:

But there is someone on the road at that unsociable hour - you. A lot less likely to have an accident, but that might be what the person coming the other way towards you is thinking too. Better safe than sorry. I've lost folk to RTA.

A friend of mine has had 63 points on his licence, he dosent drive fast he just doesent pay any attention to the road , and is one of thos who stays in the middle lane and switches off.

I find when im driving at speed I am always checking what is around me, looking for unmarked police cars etc, And I have never had any points on my licence (35 years).

There are some average speed cameras on my route home from work on a nice long downhill (dual carrigeway), before they were there you could drive perfectly safely keeping an eye out at the traffic and problems that might occur.Now you need to drive in forth gear keeping an eye on the speedo all the way just incase you drift over 70.Not too sure thats safer.

I'm of a similar mindset but neither are right really.

It's those not paying attention getting caught out by those speeding and weaving between traffic. Both wrong, but who is more wrong?

I was overseas for a few years then returned.
There is a stretch of road leading into the 30mph limit at the edge of town, past the Golf Club and what was a very busy social club and sports ground. For the 20 odd years before I left this stretch was National Speed Limit 60 mph (or de-restricted in my old currency).

Naturally I habitually traveled this section 'within ACPO guidelines'.

On my return I had gone into and out of town a dozen or more times, past the now closed social club and the slowly dying Golf Club, before noticing the 30mph sign had been moved out by half a mile or so.

So I could have been caught doing 65mph in a 30mph limit. On a stretch of road which when it was 60mph had 2 busy semi concealed junctions but when a 30 mph had only one rarely used one.

Go figure!

shouldn't have said that it temps fate .. last month I raced a smartass that was holding traffic up driving slow for no reason . got past it and he wernt happy so I floored it :laughing:

so did he . I got the van over the ton in traffic and next thing blue lights

it was an unmarked car . fortunately no camera and only one copper so I denied doing it :laughing:

listened to his lecture about getting banned and his patter and he let me go. he knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with it after I said I was doing 70 and that's it cos I clammed up and said nothing I didn't even get the riot act given

Me too, the first and last endorsements I ever had were won at the age of nineteen when I was speeding along a country road, overtaking on double whites, cutting in and all the other nonsense. Unbeknown to me there was plod on a motorcycle jammed up my chuff, I was read the riot act on the spot and he said he would nick me for all of the offences purely because I was totally unaware he was there, had I checked my rear view mirror (that was not on the vehicle) I would have known he was there :vsad:

Ever since that day I have never gathered a single point or endorsement, lesson learnt

Pretty much drive my work van on it just so I remember to slow down.

To be fair they are mainly on built-up estates and outside schools so nothing really to complain about.

they only put the camera van where its going to catch -- get the most revenue from :vsad:

I asked the old bill to put one on our road on a night . all the pillocks in there noisy clapped out wrecks blasting past all the time flying past :mad:

they said no its not cost effective
