Afterrnoon all.
Pretty straigh forward question (don't make me laugh), as the title suggests - What is the best steel grade for making a drive shaft/yoke arrangement.
In the age old farming tradition I've got a long list of things to repair for my folks (in a break from tradition I'm actually thinking about doing the repairs and not leaving it until the last minute or not bothering at all...)
One such item is a hay turner, Fahr KH40 for anyone interested. The drive shaft yoke and pin arrangement has got a bit worn and parts seem to be like rockinghorse manure and/or extorsionatly expensice for what is a very simple arranement.
With very little knowledge of the various grades of steel, can anyone suggest which would be most suitable for this application? I've done a bit of reading and EN3b, EN8, EN24t all sound good options. Am I right and is there much between them?
Many thanks! (and hopefully I got the right place for this)
