We all, I am sure do some small jobs for others from time to time, when you get the question how much? The answer is typically 'nowt it don't matter' Some times you get the odd person that does not even ask and walk away thinking everything is a freebie.
But one gent i have done a few jobs for has always brought me some bar ends, well this time he brought me some drills that he had stored somewhere, all Imperial I believe without checking everyone yet but there one in there that I may struggle to use.
The large one is 14.5 inches long, Dormer and the three large drills are 1 5 inch diameter.
The two smaller ones are FB some English make.
Now I have to try to put things like these to good use, so I check out the smaller, large drills and they have a reduced shank of 1 1/4 inch. So bit of very careful holding in the 3 jaw in the lathe and turn one shank down to 1 inch.
So now it fits in the Capstan/turret on the lathe!
So when I need to bore out something, I have a drill to do some large scale removal. Love it.
