its ok sharpening drills over a quarter of an inch by hand they will do 90percent of jobs . anything smaller and they will run off . not much cop if u are drilling and tapping small holes and loose a few thou . drills cut oval anyhows

Usually as long as the drill cuts thats OK. With care and attention a reground drill will make a near correct size hole..If you need a precise sized hole drills are not the way to go.

never bothered any of those junk.
never had problems sharpening drills even 1mm.
if ya dont believe me I'll invite bright spark to check on me.
after nearly 40 years in fabrications etc you soon learn.

Never took me forty years to learn how to sharpen a drill . As my peepers have deteriorated over the years I do seem to struggle with the smaller sizes now, may be time for some specs.

If you want a perfect hole dimension you use a reamer not a drill.
In most threaded holes below 1/4" it could be seen as pretty moot.
Besides I can still make a blunt drill cut better without my glasses on - can't even focus right on it, just technique can get you buy at times.
If it was to be for say friction pins I should go undersized and use a reamer

With no trade in engineering, I keep a drawing of what I am trying to achieve, up on the wall. I don't sharpen and use enough drills to remember the knack of it,
It is really the same with welding, I am not doing it often enough to get any better. I could never forget how to plaster or roughcast, dress slate or strike out a roof detail though.
Still learning every day mind you.
