One crap review does not really make them vary wildly...... Overall good enough feedback for my purposes and as I am drilling EN1, Mild, Aluminium, plastic and wood they are right in my sweet spot, i.e cheap!!!!

If you treat them as jobber drills then you're not going yo be disappointed. What do these people want for £35?
I've got some decent drills for tap holes and the such.
This set is just for the everyday poking holes in things.

As said, I've had a set for a few years and they've gone well.

What you need to remember is do these people know how to drill a hole?

There's a lot more to drilling holes than pointing a drill at some metal.

I've bought a few of those sets, usually on ebay at that price or cheaper under various rebrandings, they're not as straight as something decent and they don't hold their edge long but they always seem to be ground consistantly enough - in fact I was using them as jobbers in a CNC mill for a while and wasn't hanging around with 'em either.

They're at the price where they get a quick touch up if they lose their edge and just go in the bin if chipped - not worth resharpening, I have decent drills for that.

Fair enough. Last time I bought a case they where £50 and I couldn't find anymore after for cheaper. As said that was a few years ago.
I trust Axminster so £35 from there is fine by me and still a bargain.

they are soft i had the same set from screw fix a wile back for £15 they were disposable items i did sharpen the ones that were sharpenable

Well mine just arrived and the look OK to me. I just randomly pulled a few out and rolled them on my marking plate and they are straight. I will drill a few holes shortly and report back!

I found a cheap drill box in a skip, and robbed all the drills out of it. The drill bit caught in the hole i was drilling, and unwound its twist, and ended up some kind of straight flute reamer.

Hats off to the Chinese for creating the first drills made of pastry alloy though.

I am reporting back..... Drilled some 3mm mild and a hole 40mm deep in a piece of Stainless that I am making into a swing arm pivot and the drills performed just fine.

I had a straight chinese corkscrew once. It started off corkscrewed, but straightened when I tried to pull a cork out with it. Since it was attached to a knock off swiss army knife that cost me a quid, I still found it amusing!

Just buy the ones you use most and buy Dormer those cheep ones I use the as pins just cut the end off after one use
