For only a few squid more you could get one of these cordless dremels.
I much prefer it to my more expensive flexi drive model, has a good battery that lasts very well.
Good shop Beesley's, nice to deal with and their prices seem very competitive (and used to be very cheap P&P, haven't bought anything recently so no idea if it still is).
Hmm...maybe I'll buy another, I could do with a second battery

originaly dremmels were advertised on the tv aimed at diy.ers depicting cleaning wrought irom gates off with a wire wheel .also cutting a bent roundhead 4inch nail of a worktop god knows why it was there in the 1st place . having air die cutters i thought they were a joke i finaly bought one cheap and have used it on a lot of projects and are verry worthwile having for small work / beesleys do all there atachments and cutters . a good company to deal with i ordered a chainsaw atachment from them and they sent the wrong item rang them up and they sent me the jig strait out and a free bag of sanding and cutting discs out for the inconvinience

As with most tools you get what you pay for.The motors in the cheap Dremel copies have a very limited life on high revs and the attachments don't last five minutes.
Pick a make you've heard of.

I've not touched my Dremel in years. I only use it when I don't have air available.

I have three air die grinders and one has a collet to accept 1/8" bits. I'll use those.

My Dremel still works but vibrates and the bearings are worn. I picked up a right-angle head for it and it lasted about 10 minutes. The 1" piece of speedo cable in it snapped.

If i was to buy one, I'd get a RotoZip. Bigger and has much more power. Having used one, it seems better built also.

Absolutely. I too have an air die grinder which is great for certain things but on delicate stuff the air hose would be a real pain and changing bits takes longer. Try drilling holes in the bones of a birds foot with all that cumbersome hose trailing across the studio. Also I have hundreds of lovely little tungsten and diamond bits which my dentist gives me and drills no thicker than hairs which all snap far too easily in a connected tool which takes on a life of it's own when you lay it down - another reason I prefer the cordless to the flexi-drive dremel.
