Hi. I'm new as far as posting questions but would value some info. Does anyone have any user knowledge concerning Draper Migs? Who makes them ? Are they any better than Sealey or Clarke. Thanks. Gerry
I own a Draper 1302T mig which is about eight years old and seen a bit of heavy use at close to max current. Wire feed is decent but torch is a bit weak mainly due to the softness of the outer sleave which causes wire feed to stick if not kept reasonably straight. It came without a neck liner fitted which was ok at first but later gave a few problems but was fixed using Clark spares. It has a decent duty cycle. The reel holder (plastic) broke now replaced with a home made ali one. It has not needed any other parts yet.
Dont know if it is made by someone other than Draper.
I tried a Clark welder and found it a bit easier to set up and use on thinner metal.

I own a MW151AT, out of preference and experience I'd got for a Clarke model if your just starting out...
I haven't been overly impressed with mine, inexperienced I know, but seemed to have a lot of "corners cut" on the quality side of things...
If you've got some money saved up I'd go for a PortaMIG if you plan on doing quite a bit of welding...
Thanks for your input guys, looks as though I should go a bit more up market as I've had a Sealey and the Draper doesn't look any better. I have an Esseti 140 HF TIG to swop if anyone is disposing of a MIG unit.
Regards
Gerry
