DPD delivered a parcel for my other half just now - quite impressed they got up the road due to the snow and ice!

Parcel well wrapped by her friend, the sender - double layer of parcel tape over every side, followed by a couple layers of plastic wrap, whacking great label listing her B/Fs business as the account holder . . . parcel totally undamaged on the outside, but sounded a bit "clunky" as I moved it . . .

Open it up - Christmas pressies (!!) - with total freedom to move around inside the 2ft square, 6" deep, thick corrugated, strong box - the pressies would have fitted nicely in a one foot square, 4" deep box. So all look rather second-hand. All for the sake of a bit of protection inside the box, or just a box cut down to a more suitable size.

I often make up three boxes to fit inside each other with all critical seams not in line with others some times the packing is almost as heavy as the contents which are usually glass.


I don't think I can beat DHL's , " Repackaged 2x2x2 foot double packed box " they gave me five or so years ago .
On removing all the red & yellow tape they had added in their repackaging you could see where one of the tines of a forklift & broken pallet pieces had gone through most of the box killing my genuine £1200 self build Joseph Prusa 3 D printer stone dead in one go.
Had to send it all back to Poland at Prusa's expense ( paid for & insured printed label ) once they had seen the half dozen damage sustained pictures & put it in even more packing ( using cut up carboard protective boxes off a pair of brand new cycles ) as soon as Joe got it a new one was sent via UPS, it arrive six weeks later in their standard packing boxes without a mark on the outer packing carton and nothing inside was wrecked .
