Downloading a hi res image from vista print?

That should be simple enough thing to draw.
open it in a vector program, inkscape or illustrator, and draw on a layer above it.
Once you have created a vector you can resize it and it's always smooth.

stick: flame logo vector into google images, you may find a ready made one that
looks good..

Give me an average picture taken on a basic camera in poor light and 30 minutes in photoshop I will make you look like David bailey.

As for drawing something from scratch? No chance, my brain just doesn't work in that way

You can alter the dimensions at the end of the query to return a larger version but it's obviously capped. I can double it to 800 x 528 no problem but more than that and you can see it's resizing an image bigger than native so it looks gash.

As has been mentioned, it's a fairly trivial image outline so you can use a bitmap tracer to do the heavy lifting for you (original on the right):


Now that the image is vectorized it can be scaled however you like (I bumped it 1200 DPI here as an example):

I've added the rough trace as shown into the zip file that's attached.

No need someone has beaten me to it.

I wondered about autotrace, it something i have never used successfully; but I
am copying stuff to cut masking and it has to have as few nodes as possible and
every line has to be joined. Give illustrator autotrace a spotty old photograph
of a logo and it does weird ****.

I take and manipulate photos but other than resizing I play with colour temp and white balance

Although these days I try to get it in camera so just do auto resize when I want it printing

You can make it a smaller image with no quality loss but you can't make it any bigger that its native size. Ie you blow a 400px x 400px image up to 1200px x 1200px it will look gash as there is no way of knowing what to put in the holes you make as you stretch it three times in each dimension.

Inkscape works with vectors. It fundamentally doesn't use pixels and instead represents shapes using mathematical formulae. This means you can scale up or down as large or small as you like and there will be no quality loss because any gaps can be "filled in" (calculated) using the mathematical formulae.

So what I and Maker did was to use a tool in Inkscape that converts a raster (bitmap - ie a map made of bits of data) into the approximate mathematical formulae. Now that it's in that format you can gleefully scale it however you want without any quality loss.

DPI example was just to show that making it larger is just a question of saving it in that format
