Dowlighters in bathroom

Hi All,
After a little advice, I'm a qualified sparky, but have done very little house oriented stuff. Got 6 downlights in my bungalow bathroom, 5 are GU10, so easy to fit intumescent/fire hoods - The one directly over the shower is a MR16 that is fitted in the shower extractor, as this one had a extractor duct, does it/should it need a hood? If so, how would I acheive a seal? As I want to add more loft insulation, I want to make sure that it's all safe under there

Yes pal, they'd work fine for 5 of them, but the one with the extractor duct is a different proposal

If its a bungalow I dont think they need smoke hoods, thought they only needed fire protection if there is a floor/living space above?

I just don't want 300mm of insulation sitting on top of them and crushing the flexible duct - even LED's produce significant heat

Maybe just make up a cage or frame out of lightweight weldmesh to hold the insulation well clear of the duct? Or do what's done in most houses and take the ducting straight up through the insulation and then have a rigid duct with a slight fall towards a soffit outlet (so condensation falls towards the outside).

correct and if led they wont need hoods just 30mm clearance round the fitting from the insulation

It's cheaper just to buy some new ip65 led downlighters , all in one ?
