Dot 3 or 4

Ok here's a thing , I had a look under the bonet of my Mazda B2500 pick up today and the clutch fluid pot was on minimum... so later I went into town and tried to buy some DOT 3 brake and clutch fluid .... no no no in three places ... "in Greece we only use DOT 4 for everything ".... so my question is shall I top up me clutch with Dot 4 or not ......jeff.....is it a viscosity thng ?

AFAIk dot3 and dot4 are compatible (but not dot5, which is silicone based). Dot4 has a higher temperature tolerance. Dot5.1 is also available and is not silicone based (just to confuse things!!!!) and is rated for higher temperatures.

Dot 4 is fine. Better than likely that its already on dot 4.
