yesterday i was having a bit of a welding sesh in the garage (patching the rear crossmember of my bosses van) so i have the van way up in the air on axle stands and im sat underneath welding away when,,, ouch,, burning,, b*****ks,,,, yep weld spatter had dropped into my lap, burnt through my jeans so i now have tiny burn marks on my nether regions,, and no before you ask theres no foto's ,, think some sort of apron is in order from now on lol

when i was a fettler in a local foundry we had leather aprons,, maybe i should invest in one lol,, ahh well the van is nearly finished now and im not in pain its just a little uncomfy,, iv always hated being under what im welding tho,, but i cant roll his van on its side just to it up

You know...when you get burnt you have to cool it down under running cold water...lol, sorry but that image makes me chuckle!

I have two leather aprons, they are the bomb when welding lying down

Got some leather sleaves as well, wouldn't mind a proper welders jacket as well

We have prairie fires in this part of the world.
You need to have an assistant in case of fire,toss some dirt on the fire and wack it with the shovel till it goes out.

It would work but children would have to use small shovels.
If someone had no family maybe an ex wife or ex girlfriend that they had been unfaithful to ,would help them out.

when i was a fettler

As the engineering sprog I had to do the casting fettling (until they took on the next apprentice). My safety equipment? disposable goggles, disposable mask and a pint of milk!

Result in later life? Partial deafness and rusty inclusions in both eyes...... H&S would have closed us down had they been around
