I’ve tried that but there’s only so many hours in the day we can monitor her, I’ll try the spray and see how it works.

You need to find the trigger - boredom, stress, noise, quiet... we found the best distraction was another dog! It could also be food... We had good results with the Adaptil collars, they just take the 'edge' off reactive behaviour, never used them with the GSD but one of the current rescue dogs is less prone to stress with one and we always know when it's time to change it.

Is her flea treatment up to date? Does she have any signs of skin infection around the area she is chewing?

Yes it is and no there’s no sign of infection, when she started this k took her to a vet and he advised the lamp shade

She’s never left long on her own my wife is here all day, she’s always food in her bowls, has unlimited access to the garden and she’s walked at least twice per day 2-5 miles, just googled adaptive collar, will try that if it fits, she’s a tiny Jack so not sure if the minimum size will fit but if it does it’s worth a try.

Maybe unlimited access to whatever she wants is the problem - it could be the dog version of 'too many blue Smarties', try restricting feeding to twice a day so she has something to look forward to.
Adaptil collars are available from Amazon, also, what are you feeding her on? it could be 'too much' of something is causing her to react - I'm not a dog trainer or behaviourist so not qualified to give advice, diagnostics for anything are best done by changing one parameter at a time and observing the result, with dogs, it can take days or weeks to see any change.

a mate scoty dog had the same thing with its front paws..
all kinds of checks and remedies.....nothing worked....
he was told to damp them down with a cheap brandy ....a week later cured.....!!!!!!!

Makes me realise just how good our nearly 2 year old JR bitch is , apart from a wooden barrier we used to stop her going upstairs as a very young pup she has only chewed her own toys BUT we have to be very careful to stop her eating stuff in the garden . She loves everyone and always gets loads of attention when out for her walks, the best thing about her, she doesn’t bark!, fingers crossed

we used cheap vinegar and also Tabasco sauce on things like their wooden beds and even sometimes our hands when our dogs where at the biting stage, both worked well, although Tabasco does stain...!!

We tried Tabasco to stop our Springer pup chewing everything, he licked it all off then spent an hour panting. Clove oil worked in the end, he wouldn't go anywhere near it.

I have seen and heard over the years many people using mustard and Curry as a "deterrent" but they quite simply aren't. Dogs have a totally different set of taste sensors to ours (humans) and don't taste things the same as we do. Same as smell, dogs have a much enhanced sense of smell as you will know, we really are "nose blind" compared to a dog.

Also rotten stuff in plastic bags, including the bag, so yes, they certainly do have a different sense of taste.

Only thing she wouldnt eat, was cucumber.

years back my lab injured its tail, started chewing , tried every thing , months later came down to it had chewed the last 3 inches completely to the bone, looked horrific, Vet had warned me the chewing releases a drug they get addicted to . so it was cut off leaving about 3" stump. After that he was happy and had a great life.
I think this is probably what you will need to do. Oh do I still miss him
