I can't see that it does, but I'm wide open to correction.
The 12mm stud shown has a 1.75 pitch on the coarse end and a 1.25 on the fine threaded bit. I need to replace it with a slightly longer stud, so I bought some M12 8.8 bolts (1.75 pitch) with the plan to cut a 1.25 thread on the grip of the new bolt.
Howsoever, it appears that I have only 1.75 and 1.5 pitch in my box of dies, and so far I've failed to find any of my friends admitting to having a 1.25 die. My lathe doesn't have a metric screwcutting setup, so I was planning to take the job over to my mates and cut the thread on his lathe.
Given that the fine thread end is used to secure a 2-hole flange using a pair of locknuts, is there any reason I shouldn't just use 1.5 pitch (for which I have a die) on the "fine" end, or even 1.75 for the full length of the stud (replacing the nuts obv.)?
The studs are screwed into a gearbox casting at about 120mm PCD.
