Whats wrong with this and how much it would cost to get it fixed. He says it needs a new lance but I have no idea what that actually means as I have never welded before. You can check it out here

i would he means new torch, i havent a clue of the price of a torch for one of those, but weldequip would have. pm him and ask for a price then you know if its worth it

Hmmm, the old 'selling for a mate' scenario
The problem is if you can't test it due to the stuck wire fault you won't even know if it works correctly with the problem sorted.

Tis true, definitely a "buyer beware" type situation, ill let you all know how I get on.

I think it might be a 'buyer steer clear' situation . You may get it cheap and come up trumps but then you may not, depends what you're willing to pay for it.

Looking at that (not very clear) pic of the damaged torch and going by the description you'd at the very least need a new torch assembly plus quite probably the entire wiring, gas line and wire liner assembly connecting the machine to the torch. I misread it as the filler wire burnt back and stuck inside the torch when in fact it appears that the power cable to the torch has burnt out. Even more reason to steer clear in my opinion.
