Just to let everyone know that when my decent pin spanner arrived I tried it on the valves and they did unscrew, B.S.F. threads they are. Some crazy setup. Overall everything looks in very good nick, except for the last remaning tar stuff that's left. Those spring are extremely fine gauge. What would people do to these on reassembly, after cleaning them up. Would you put them back together dry or, lightly oil them?

wont harm putting a bit of light oil on or wd 40 but will soon disapear 
I thought it interesting that the valve seats could be removed as well. No good now of course but, years ago you could just replace them when they became knackered. Although, I bet there are some lying on a shelf somewhere.
Cut the groove in the flange, as suggested in the instructions, got part way along the crank and it began breaking off so, I had to use the actual flywheel to drive it into position. There is the key slot in the shaft that seems to deform the sleeve a touch, but one past it, it seemed to right itself again. I won't be cutting a groove in the sleeve collar next time. Although, it could make it difficult to remove if I don't.
Quite hard making a felt sleeve, as well.
