Have you welded before?

First thing I did was put the wheels on it, add gas bottle and reg - set it up with 0.8mm wire and get the pressure in the drive wheel right so I could stop the feed with light pressure and then run some test welds on scrap steel to find the wire speed sweet spot and get a feel for the power settings

Check everything works, all the step switch positions, min/max wire speed, any spot functions etc. always best to find out if there are any issues as soon as possible.

I took mine around the avenue, 10mph to start with and built up to 20mph for the last three miles...sorry could not resist

Ok..I also bought a new Portamig, they come well wrapped and damn heavy so watch who ever unloads it does not get carried away and drop it on a corner or similar.

You need to bolt the wheels to it so try and keep the rest wrapped so you can GENTLY roll it on it's side to allow access to the base..

Cut a bit of ply to fit in the bottle tray, why not?.. easy to do and saves all the scratches and damaged paint.

On the edge of the case that the bottle touches, cut a length of pvc tube lengthways and slide onto the steel edge, bit like a saw blade protector strip, again it will save the paintwork.

Then as already been mentioned above.. Enjoy

Just use caution adding bits of wood to stuff that makes fire unlikely but possible

Sounds great i do weld occasionally at work (we have an old mig) orderd portamig on Wednesday not sure when it will be delivered
