Idle thoughts here but while messing with the VFD ramp times I started thinking about what the point of the clutch was on my L5 anymore? Do you really need a clutch when you can spin up/down in <1s?
Obviously when "new" (in 1944) it made sense as without a VFD the load would be horrific and it would coast to a halt. While arguably with the motor already spinning its slightly faster to spin up (but slower to stop) using the clutch that's at the expense of unobtainable clutch plates.
Just curious to hear others thoughts on this.
