They are, not particularly cheap though, most would bin the motor and stick a V8 in, but I'm happy with what I've got

It's just how I like them.

Old and tried, and resently overworked. Did run very low on oil a while back on the M1, which won't have helped.

It was coming out whatever, I'd rebuilt the head 30months ago, and knew the bottom was due then.

Just been to have a look, every pot had broken rings, and almost no oil ring left in some, one of the big ends has been shimmed, so need checking for ovation, crank is worn but 20thou will put that right. Cam is OK (I'll replace) along with new followers. Timing gears are sweet so will stay. So not much left really. Other than it never been rebored.

...and all the oil the pistons have been sucking up has goosed some of the exhaust valves and guides, so they need replacing again as well.

You want aluminium rods for stick welding, use a rag to wipe the worst of the oil off and run a ring or two of weld round the top then use a dremel to do the slot for the rings.

Direct from the states. I've found a bloke with a load of USArmy surplus.
I'm dredding the Duty and VAT. However I'm sure car parts over 50yrs, are duty free, or just 5% Need to look into that
