Do you need a top slide?

For the handiness of a QCTP I think I'd just be butchering the centre pivot to suit the new post. You'll never change it back! and if you do, you can machine a bushing to make the difference back up. It's not the most precision part of the lathe, it just needs to not move

My compound is almost always locked out, but I leave it at 30 degrees. Means I can get in tighter to the tailstock and also when threading I can use it instead and only cut on one flank.

I took my compound of my Chester. I now have a qctp on a solid steel block mounted via 4 bolts to the t slots. Massive improvement to stiffness.

That looks pretty much identical to the M250 one.

Do you have a 250? If so would you mind measuring the width, height and length of the slide, just of interest as to whether one would fit the Triumph too

No problem: I'll pop out later and get some dimensions. From memory (I had cause to measure the cross-slide recently!), the pillar thing in the middle of the cross-slide (onto which the top-slide fits) is 20 mm diameter, the T-Nuts are M8 and the slot diameter is 98 mm (88 mm ID and 108 mm OD), but I might have remembered them wrong...

I'll get some dimensions from the top-slide this evening. Anything in particular you'd like?

Actually, I just remembered that I made this when I was practising a new-to-me CAD system, so I can probably get most dimensions from the CAD model. I'm sure there are lots of things wrong, but it should be close enough for what you need:

A few dimensions lifted off the model at random:

Height of the top-slide top-surface above the cross-slide is 60.5 mm according to my model (which as I said might be wrong!)

@Dr.Al thanks for that, but from a cursory glance it's a totally different size to the Triumph unit. Ours are 4-5/8" wide, 10-1/4" long and the t bolts are on 3-1/2" centres, I believe the height is 2-1/4" but I haven't written that down for some reason.
