EBAY , Some hipster will buy them as a talking point , spotted a 5kv megger in antiques shop recently only £150. Mine remains in my kit having paid £5 for it in 1986

A few years ago at work we decommissioned a 6MeV linear accelerator from a top-secret research establishment not a million miles from Sevenoaks (I can talk about it now as it's being turned into a swanky housing estate ).
It took an artic trailer to bring all the component parts up to the office and then we set about stripping it for... recycling
Lots of very large transformers were weighed-in, extremely high-grade high-voltage capacitors and three-phase motor-driven variacs etc. went on eBay. There were three 6 foot high 19" racks which had been stripped out leaving just the front panels with an array of meters, switches, dials and the likes which were scheduled for the scrap.
Anyway, some bits were sold on the 'bay and when the buyer came to collect from darn sarf he spotted the cabinets and a few other bits and asked if they were for sale. I sucked my teeth and said I should really check with management (they just wanted rid!) but he could make me an offer.
Five hundred quid in the tea fund later the cabinets and other bits were on their way; turned out he supplied steampunk pub renovators and hired stuff for historic film sets! The cabs would have been spot-on for some Cold War-era control room.
I think we still have a few odds and ends of it left, so if anyone needs a 3-phase variac, Klystron, Thyratron or the world's biggest magnets let me know...

Well, in case he's reading this...

I think this was out of Quatermass's shed. Could be a klystron, not sure... N-type RF connectors and a length of heavy coaxial cable.

A couple of 3-phase variacs; the bottom one's motor-driven so could form part of a mains stabiliser. The variacs can be split, same with the top one which is manually-adjusted. They're both about 700mm long (or high, if stood up). They've obviously been getting it on as there's a little baby one at the bottom...

This is the business end of the linac, something microwavey. It's almost all copper - apart from the glass which will be under vacuum, 1.3m long. It dates from the 70s and we think made by Thales.

This is a pile of copper microwave guides that connect to the above. Anyone care to take a stab at guessing what the big silver lump - actually two, there's a round bar hiding behind it - is made from?

Not something I can find now (my pc has died - and it has my saved bookmarks on it) but a while ago I joined a group for selling off props & stage equipment when exhibitions ended.
They had some amazing ad adverts : " 27ft high Swan, very realistic, painted in dayglow orange & yellow stripes, 1 careful owner, buyer must collect..." etc.

A landlady a while ago loved cows. She was very happy when she won a charity auction for a life-sized cow model covered in tiny mirror mosaic tiles/. It got shipped from a village fair in Latvia to her back garden in the UK... It takes all sorts

I'm sure I saw an article a while back about a set of 30 foot fibreglass Michael Jacksons that are dotted around the world... some tour promotion things I guess.
