Was watching a This Old Tony vid on tungsten carbide and he cuts a hss lathe tool with an carbide end mill and that got me thinking..
Could you turn a hss twist drill with TC insert tools and cut a thread into it i.e making a spiral flute tap?
I can see it not working due to the drill bit flexing as the flutes are usually cut last when making a diy straight flute tap and spiral flute taps are pretty cheap anyway but the thought has stuck with me that it might be possible.
