Dividing heads

I have a k&t dividing head.
It’s a big lump like my Cincinnati one but it has one big advantage.
It’s made of aluminium so only heavy instead of real heavy!

Have you all the plates ?? I have a few orphans ..numbered 22681 (49,47,43,41,39,37) and 682 (33,31,29,27,23,21) Which I believe to be from a K&T

No I haven’t though tbh I’ve never used it as there’s no chuck and haven’t had the urge to sort it.

5.370" OD, 1.740" ID and I think the PCD is 2.125" 0.250 Thickness (all calliper measurements, so not mega accurate)

I am now the proud owner of a superb dividing head (thanks to pressbrake1) it arrived crated yesterday jeez they are heavy old thing I spent the lunch time today giving it a clean and grease also sent in the crate was a tailstock which after stripping it apart and little bit of machining now fits my mill a treat I finished the day wire wheeling the tailstock and giving it a coat of some spare colchester lathe paint.
Got a lot to learn now although I have check out some of the dividing head calculators that can be downloaded.

Oh and I forgot to mention I am putting a cat flap in the crate for one of my yard cats as she has taken to it I will get you a pic when its done

That dividing head is universal as I was talking about, it should come with a bunch of gears and a bracket for them, it kind of looks like the end of the table has one of the gears on it.

I like the riser blocks with T slots.

Here's mine so you can see what I mean.

Because of the changewheels It can divide from 2 up to 400 with only the two plates.

Have you ever set it up to cut spirals or the like Grim ?

I have a big omt rotary table
The one pictured is a good one, no need for gears really and if you did want to do spiral milling buy some
Still too dear though

The real attraction of the changewheels IMO is that it expands the range of divisions without loads of plates.

For example It will allow me to divide by 127 using a plate with a pitch circle of 39.

Spiral milling is a bonus.

Not yet, I haven't even cut the gears I bought it for yet! Too many projects on the go.

I don't think my 5.5 inch dividing head is a direct fit to be driven from my Elliot UO, the 3.5 inch version probably was, however I'm quite sure it can be made to work.

Ha ha yes you dont get many put that much effort in these days a proper craftsman, weve had things with just a bit of plastic bin liner round them, we like to make a bit of effort when we send anything, lol father thought id bought the box and you chucked the divider in as a bonus cats gonna be real pleased.
