The person I am with today reminded me of the repair job we did on his Kramer.
Not only was there carbon and soot from a fire, but the 3 cylinder engine was choked.

Metal container, we used old stainless steel ones from a closed bakery(Midnight skip raid)
Washing soda dissolved into water until the water was saturated and it was settling out.
Then using a Off centre cam on a battery powered motor the parts and solution where agitated and left.
It does work, but at first it seams to be not. Then suddenly the carbon just fell off.
If I was to repeat it I would:
Suspend the parts or rest them on a grid above the bottom of the container and keep the solution warm.

So, electrolysis then?
