Disposables from MM

[66-V8]

Apart from one bottle costing £9 and the other costing £12, does anyone know the difference between the following disposables?

They are both 110L, 86% Argon /14% Co2 mix.

They are probably using the same picture to illustrate two different size bottles on their website.

The more expensive one will/should hold a bit more gas.

The cheaper one is pure argon and the other is an argon/co2 mix.

The £12 ones are a higher capacity canister & have around 80% more gas than the cheaper £9 ones, same physical size canister though.

Not sure, it's a Mk2 Jag/Daimler, a very rusty one so about 2000 probably.


Seriously, I'm going the rental route after the next can runs out so...... how much for a regulator kit for a 151te?

Don't know if it's just me, but all the high-capacity MM bottles that I have had seem to have restricted gas flow - compared to the normal capacity.

Could just be that my local branch had an iffy batch, or something, but it's definitely something that I have noticed.

some older disposable bottle regulators can't handle the extra pressure of the increased capacity bottles, and either pass no gas, or very little. if you want to use these, you'll need to buy a new regulator. Guess how I know this!

Thanks Penfold - that makes sense. Looks lkike it's time for a new reg (the standard one that came with my Clarke 150TE is a bit naff).

I think it's a bit of confusion with the pics on the site.

If you enlarge the pic of the bottle on the first link it shows on the label 86% argon 14% co2 but the link refers to pure argon.

The 110L info is only on the pics so that's probably why the op was wondering about the different prices on, what appear in the pics, to be the same bottle.

Yes, the links are for different gasses but they are also different capacity bottles.
Both argon and argon/co2 are the same price for the same capacity bottle.

The only difference between the pics are the words "Co2/ARGON MIX" missing on the 'Argon' bottle.

a good game if your in MM is to ask a member of staff why one is more expensive(as they look the same ).ive asked about 6 people in various branches and only ever got the correct answer off one guy the rest have just given rarther amusing answers
