Hi There,
I bought a cheap welder off ebay a while back but have only just got round to looking into setting it up - Having no instructions for it i'm having to go by the expert village videos on youtube and this site to help in setting it up. Have managed to do the wire feed stuff and that all looks OK however when i start putting the (cheapo) regulator on the gas bottle it seems quite a lot is leaking out before i even get it screwed on all the way.
Is this normal or a dodgy regulator or am i doing something wrong?
Is it worth putting some PTFE tape on the threads to stop it leaking? (have a load from using compressors and cheapo quick connectors .)
Any help much appreciated.
Also with regard to welding helmets - I bought the cheapo aldi/lidl (can't remember) flip up helmet but am looking at getting one of the autolight sensing helmets off ebay (either solar or battery powered) only thing that concerns me is none of them mention any signs of the batterys running out (and i'm guessing if the batterys do run out then it'll all go clear and you'll get arceye when you next goto weld? (or is it the other way round, always tinted accept when there's power and no bright light?)
Thanks,
David
