For the boot floor you don't have to use the repair panel. In my case the edges it sits on were too far gone to weld to. I used a sheet of 1.2mm steel. Seam welded round the edges and plug welded to the cross members. I added two cross braces in the boot to stiffen the floor a bit as the LPG tanks will be going in there.

The MoT man was more than happy with what I had done.

while we ar on the subject of discos, the other day i found a rust hole on top of the rear bumper i was wondering how easy it would be to take off the bumper to weld it proper so i can paint and inspect it.

The Rear bumper is only held on with 2 M10 bolts I believe, but it can be a bit of a contortion act to get to them, and get them undone...
