I'd like to know roughly how much electricity I use in the shed and this looks like a very convenient way of doing it. I'm a bit wary of cheap electricals bought from unknown suppliers so if you've got any suggestions as to where I might source one that would be great.

Equally, if they are all rubbish then say so. I don't need it to be controlled or viewed on an app, just looking at the display will be enough.

any kwh meter will work as long as its in the feed . price and quality depends on manufacturer if its fitted in the new metal enclosures and sets on fire it will be contained

I bought a 3ph version of that meter from TLC (I think). Counted fine but very poor quality. It failed spectacularly luckily inside a cabinet so no harm was done. Next time I would spend a lot more.

I think a clip on meter would be best.

at least it will show you what machine is using the most power. not that its really needed if you know the the current draw and how long its being on for

A good quality brand you will be fine as it should be passive but a cheap one with poor terminals is a fire waiting to happen.

You will certainly find a clip on jobby cheaper

The one I linked to was more for illustration than one I might buy. I'll have a look for clip on meters.

I know which machine uses the most electricity, it's the compressor. It won't quite run off a 13A plug and is running constantly when I'm grit blasting.

easy just look how many kw motors on it. if it runs for an hour and its 3kw . if your electric costs 15 pence per kilowatt it will cost you 45 pence per hour to run

why is time money ??I never look at what mines using and its got 2 x 3hp motors on it
