The ( Mitutoyo Absolute ) Is coolant proof (which means splash proof I suppose).
Is that the only difference between a Absolute one and non Absolute in the Mitutoyo range?
This is absolute which is what i mean when purchasing cheapies from ******, well its a risk Rabone and Chesterman (good ole British brand) dont at around £30. Every time you use it, zero before measurement same with most *****ies inc the Aldi at a £5 had two plus many others similar to pass on at £1.50 each some needed a battery some didnt. http://www.mitutoyo.co.uk/Mit/features/abs.htm
Coolant proof goes in a rating, the higher the better. Max possible would be IP68. http://www.mitutoyo.co.uk/Mit/features/ip.htm
If wet has got in, you may be extremely lucky to get it going again. Lost count of the number i have knackered up over the years amounting to around a grand.
IP65 is classed as coolant proof, though latest Mitutoyo range start at IP66, mines not packed up yet since they were first released Series 500 http://www.mitutoyo.co.uk/MitProd/mtopr.nsf/UNIDS/887AE8F4F2290A7680256942002DBA09!Opendocument#1
Wet on slides can find its way in and not directly on the scale unit readout!
Solar power IP67 http://www.mitutoyo.co.uk/MitProd/mtopr.nsf/UNIDS/887AE8F4F2290A7680256942002DBA09!Opendocument#1
IP67 is classed as submersible which means just that, 5th Mitutoyo 3 are digital and all absolute. http://www.mitutoyo.co.uk/MitProd/mtopr.nsf/UNIDS/04769474C710FBD9802571F6002F9AA4!Opendocument#1
Excellent IP67 looks exactly like my older IP66 jobby.
Keep dropping mine or worse the swarf from the lathe wraps round the chuck and flings the vernier off
Been looking for a 0 to 1" digi mic with quick release.
managed to get thisoff the bay for £100 havent been put to much use but seem a quality piece of kit!
Busa, same as the Rabone Chesterman at around £30 from J&L rip off.
you will find sooner or later when switching on it reads zero, but it is not the actual zero and could be 6" out. Imagine if you had spent many an hour on something, one last bit to do and didnt realise it was reading 0.5mm eg out, could be any reading out!
So check regularly.
