Oh I wouldn’t touch that brand that’s MSCs Chinese stuff.I fancy one of those multi-anvil mic's. Bid on a few recently and was always pipped at the post. What brand are those ? I cannot see in the picture.

I was talking about the QuantuMike
micrometers are a step up in accuracy from digital calipers, whatever brand you choose.
The thing that makes a really nice mic is properly ground threads and anvils, meaning the friction is consistent and gives you repeatable readings over and over.
I can't see a Draper mic being as good as a Moore & Wright, but I haven't tried them back to back... do they consistently hit the zero on a room temp test gauge, every and any time you use them?
Moore & Wright are slowly going downhill, but they're not at the bottom yet. Just because it's Chinese doesn't mean it's bad... they said the same about Japanese stuff once over...
I can never justify a digital mic, mine are all older M&W, Mitutoyos and a swiss one whose name I can't remember.
H Roberts have got 1” quantumikes up for £138+VAT.
MSC have got the standard mitutoyo digital mics on offer this month.
Standard metric mics are .5mm pitch, mitutoyo Quantumikes are 2mm I think as they use an encoder for the measuring. Thus are 4x faster than standard.I have an unbranded digi mike which is pretty good BUT it takes forever to wind in and out. Are the Mitutoyos the same? Too finely geared?
