Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want but couple digital IDs with cashless, the net zero, ULEZ etc... And it really seems the authorities are hell bent on getting as much control as possible over tax paying law abiding citizens. We've had a glimpse of this new world during covid in my opinion, laws can be passed overnight, freedoms removed with hours notice, and many people not only went along but actively encouraged it. It's pretty scary really where things are heading.

whilst we all went into sever lockdown during covid this was acceptable in my eyes to stop a dangerous virus spreading and killing many and giving the nhs chance to stock up and to get safety gear

whilst it was too little too late in my eyes, all for profit for the companys and there budies so many lives was lost for no reason other than profit

we are an island and we have a much better chance to close our borders or stop people traveling in and out of our country

close our borders means no travel and wagon deliverys picked up and droped off at the ferrys docks drivers return back to there origins

You'd think it's fine as I never do anything wrong. It'll keep away the terrorists and the like. But even some plain common sense is considered far right extremest these days.

Most of the time if im at my desk I restart Lauren Lavern so I can skip the news and songs I don’t like

I live in bliss and only look if something spikes my interest even then it’s all contrived

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but not everyone agreed that it was acceptable, a sizable chunk disagreed and were vilified for even asking questions! What makes you think it'll be handled any better next time? That those with access can be trusted? Or that companies won't profit from this new world?!! When has data EVER been secure?
Also raises the question of where does it stop? GPS tracker under everyone's skin, CCTV in each room of your house? "If you've nothing to hide then you shouldn't have a problem" we hear all the time. Obviously this is the extreme but it starts somewhere and one man's acceptable is another man's extreme.

Goalposts move. Look at recent history where activities that were normal, are now reasons for attempting to destroy people due to modern ill disciplined kids thinking that they are entitled to 'cancel' anyone that they disagree with. What is fully legal and acceptable today may well not be soon, in this brave new BBC world we are being pushed into.

I Googled it and saw it's not appeared in many papers. Some niche media are saying it's a privacy concern as it gives government more insight into our records. The best link is @Morrisman 's in the third post. Essentially it is a new version of the existing Gov Gateway service, designed to make digital identities simpler, and to link our records to a single ID, so that, for example, you don't have to have a separate login for each gov service you use.

I'm more concerned that so many people believe in such conspiracies. We have real dangers up ahead, climate change, a predicted recession, rising nationalism, tensions with China may be about to tip into something worse, a new status quo for invading countries and using nukes for offensive leverage, and here we are divided and believing that the governments attempts to control a pandemic is a conspiracy.

I know people who genuinely believe the vaccine was Bill Gates putting chips in the bloodstream of everybody on the planet. Serious people, posting well detailed videos of 'doctors' in uniform, with full credentials, explaining how 2/3 of the human race will be killed off at the push of a button etc when the New World Order decides to.

But when you google these 'genuine doctors' their name doesn't exist anywhere......

But planes were flying in and out unchecked weeks, months, after the initial 'lockdown'. A mate of mine flew into the UK, from China, mid lockdown, with absolutely no health checks or test or mask, only a printed handout waffling about 'if you have a fever' or some such drivel.

Same guy flew to Spain and back a couple of times over the following months, again, NO health or PPE on the plane or in the airport.

Too little, too late, when it did come, as all those in power were busy making a killing on crony contracts to focus on the finer details of their 'covid' safety policies.
