Every day is a school day. I would imagine this big flat spot could be tuned out then? I have no idea why they would build a low revving motor with a huge gulf in the power delivery at low rpm.Last pumps that had a governor were inline pumps - since then we have had decades of rota diesel pumps and now common rail injection.
Diesels were good when they had inline pumps.
Diesels were good before they treated them like petrol engines - perfomance wise.
It'll cruise at 70mph at 2000rpm all day long and do it for over 800 miles without a stop, and I shan't be getting rid of it unless/until it falls apart big time.
