got a bit of a problem with my Navara. 2003, 2.5 TD25Dtti engine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_YD_engine#YD25DDTi_(VP44_Pump)
Its taken to intermittently cutting out, It can go for days or a week or so without happening then its back with a vengeance.
when it happens its throwing up fault code 0073 pump communication line , which is suggesting a CANBUS error between the ECU and fuel pump control module ( Bosch VP44 pump ).
now the majority of google suggestions, and the Diesel place near us are suggesting the electronic module on the pump is at fault and it needs a new pump. the main fault with this module seems to be the power transistors that control the timing solenoid and/or metering solenoid have failed.
Now if the cutting out was completely random or the truck had completely died I could go with this BUT when it does cut out , without fail its as I hit 2000 RPM on a light throttle opening, and it always picks its feet back up again after a second or so.
It feels very similar to when the neutral position switch on the gearbox starts failing and it goes into limp mode when accelerating, but Ive fitted a new switch a bit ago, and Ive checked that this one is ok.
This is leading me to think that its something else happening, maybe something isnt sensing its coming on boost or similar ?
Im not really up for forking out for a new pump if its not going to fix the problem.
I had wondered if there are any diagnostic facilities that can be plugged into the OBD port that will analyse whats going on in real time whilst its happening ?
I know there are some really clued up people on here, has anyone got any ideas ?
