Hi. ive got an air die grinder but i need to get a mains powered one. ive been looking at the makita GD0600 and the makita GD0602. Can any one see what the difference is between the two? One has a paddle switch and looks longer?. Thanks for the help.

look the spec sheet up on both models and it will tell u the diffrence

I tried that first, one of them does 2500rpm and one does 25000 rpm. are all the accesories suitable for both rpm's.?

Some accesories don't like high rpm it burns them, like flap wheels, I have a Hitachi but have a speed controller on it

2500 seems a little low this could be a typo mistake, die grinders should run at high speed, providing each machine has a collet chuck to hold 6mm bits then the accessories should be interchangable.

You were correct digger6135 ive checked a few websites and it was a typing error. 25000 is correct, the one im considering has the longer nose and it takes 6mm bits. which seem to be more available than 8mm which the other one uses.

Doesn't have to, mine goes from 7000 - 29000 rpm

Thanks for the advice langy. ive just had a quick look on google for yours as it seems a lot better than the makitas i was looking at. the variable speed is a good thing. also it looks more heavy duty and it has more power. Do you use the carbide burrs much?

Yes I use tungsten burrs a lot, mainly on stainless welds to radius for polishing, I turn the speed down quite reguarly as 29000 is a bit fast I find, I do a lot of porting of cylinder heads so find the long nose very useful.

I like it but you could do with out it and use a standalone unit

I think being able to adjust the speed is essential. Different bits operate at different speeds, nowt worse than bits chattering?

Would need to be bigger as the Hitachi is 760 watts I believe
