Die Grinder Advice

I have two air die grinders a cheap one from aldi which is ok and does the job and a bluepoint one that I got off ebay for under a fiver which is a good bit smaller has more torque and runs a lot smoother and is far better. If you want to get into really tight spaces though you'd be better with a flexible drive extension like this,

If you buy a Dremel:

1) Keep the receipt
2) Prepare to get to know the staff at your local B&Q customer service desk on first name terms
3) Look forward to repeating a warranty replacement at least once every 6 months.
4) Start saving up for a Makita

Purchase a Metabo or Kress!Really good die grineders and variable speed!
The Hitachi one is also a very respectable one.
Choose one of the 3 or go for an air grinder far!!! cheaper.

Regarding the swarf splinters from die grinding steel I use a magnetic swarf collector or a magnet in a polythene bag in the firing line to reduce the amount flying about. Also a visor for eye protection.

I use 2 air die grinders which I bought from screw fix and ebay for £20 and also have a dremel. If you've got a compressor I'd go for the air one, its far cheaper than the electric ones and are a lot smaller too so its easier getting into smaller spaces. Only problem I found was the throttle was a bit tricky so it could be a bit aggressive, I then found out theres is a little screw on the side that adjusts the torque, happy days!!

They look like quite innocent little tools, but have quite some grunt for their size!
Highly recommend the makita gd0800c - which is a variable speed version.
