Diamond grinder wheel dressing tool holder

I just purchased a diamond dressing tool its soo short do they sell holders for these or is it suppose to be used short to get the wheel true

See that groove, for a clamp screw, perhaps?

If you're using it on a surface grinder you'd stand it in a block and bring the wheel down to it. If you're trying to sharpen an off-hand grinder then you'll still need something to allow you to sweep the face of the stone without making grooves.

this is what I cobbled together for my grinder. It hooks over the tool rest, which I machined square, and does a passable job.

You'll need to make a holder that slides across the tool test

thanks so I should not have purchased it and just kept on using my regular one for dressing my bench grinder wheels

I've nice chunky cast iron rests on this old beast, so it works a treat.

I have similar and just use it short, worked well enough if you have steady hands.

Recently I messed about swapping wheels and now I cant get any to true up. Even using the flat face of a diamond segment, suspect the wheels are moving or something, and not bothered since.

i have a couple of other dressing tools, my old wet tile cutter blade does a good job also. that does sound like a wobble wheel Kram

It does but then I had the same luck trying to true the original wheels.
Since then Ive been abusing my diamond wheel grinder for everything.

I use the diamond wheel for tig tungston i have done a few drill bits on it but TBH it is to narrow to get a decent edge on the larger drill bit sizes
