I am looking for a Dial gauge and stand can any one recommend one

Definitely noga stands.

Indicators seem much of a muchness. Personally I'd be on eBay looking for a preloved mitutoyo, starret, tesa, Baty etc.

Baty seem to be the most common and cheapest of the good ones ebay. Ive got 2 imperial 0.0001" and one metric 0.002mm plunger types.

Id much rather have a tatty old precise 0.2mm/rev of any brand, than a brand new 0.8mm/rev Mitotoyo. It makes a massive difference when clocking in on a 4 jaw.

@Kram what are you doing that requires that kind of resolution?

A huge increase in price with a negligible increase in practical use (for the average home gamer)

I’ve just picked up a 2nd Noga Mag and Cine arm. Lovely bit of kit. I also have a cheap (£12.70) mini version copy.
I bought it to hold a little perspex screen, at first it was stiff and none compliant, but its freed off and I would say its not far off the Noga

Pains me to say but those noga knock offs are actually pretty good.

My dti's are tesa and Mitutoyo

That noga is a lovely bit of kit. Dear new over here compared to the States. if I remember correctly they used to be made in Israel.

And long may it continue, they are an Israeli company.

I use a middle sized noga as a camera mount
It is a really nice bit of kit
It has been in some interesting places

There’s no way the chuck on a Warco is even running to within a tenth

Be very lucky to get .0002 on the spindle nose of a high end lathe in good condition!
See it on soppy youtube videos where someone does some turning then puts a clock in it and says roundness is perfect on their grizzly lathe.
Take it out and put it on a tallyrond !
Tolerance people shout out is only really possible on lapped dead centre grinding or a kern

I did not claim anything like that, only that itis easier to clock parts with. I often get the machining sequence wrong and chuck parts many times. It helps me keep that compound runout to a minimum.

The ones I linked are maybe 10 quid more than any others at most, was only a quick search. I got my Mitutoyo for 22 and 3 Batys cost 20 total.
