Hi all, just a wee line as an introduction.
I'm a trained diesel fitter/ metal turner, with nearly 30 years fixing and operating all kinds of heavy plant and construction equipment.
Over the years Ive used mig, fcaw, carbon arc and arc.
Although to be fair I've never been great with arc.
Quick list of welding equipment.
1ph butters amt 400, 3ph migatronic migman 385 and a 3ph Newarc r5000 cc/cv.
25 kva generator.
About 15 years ago I took a chance on a much abused and unloved harrison m350, spent a bit of time and a few pound on it. turned out to be a nice wee lathe in quite good condition. Ashamedly it has lay covered and unused since then. However I have a cunning plan...
Its been 30 odd years since i trained in metal turning, so I'm hoping to get a few tips and pointers on tooling, rpms and feed speeds ect... and i've recently relocated it to a new workshop.
I'm hoping the questions i ask won't be too tedious or stupid and to be honest I've never posted anything online before. It's going to be all new to me, fun times ahead me thinks...
Just reading through this my small introduction has become a bit of a life story!!
I'll try to keep it short and simple from here on.
